A Gift for Friends and Family

proclamation

*Post is written in behalf of my Family100 College class. Quotes and material are found from ‘Successful Marriages and Families – Proclamation Principles and Research Perspectives,’ Chapter 34, Sharing and Defending Family Proclamation Principles.

“The Family: A Proclamation to the World… is scripture-like in its power… Read the proclamation… and you’ll find answers there. And the answers that are there are the answers of the Church.” (President Boyd K. Packer 2008, pg. 349)

This Christmas, Give the gift of The Family: A Proclamation to the World. I can think of no better way to defend the Proclamation, then to share it, to give it to a family. Maybe this family is non-members or maybe it’s a member family who are struggling. Pray about it, God will direct you to the family in need.

I have made it a goal for me this month and I would encourage you to do the same as well. If you are looking for some fun options visit this previous post of mine for ideas https://justbrit.com/2015/10/15/family-proclamation-photo-overlay/

The Proclamation has blessed me and my family in many ways. I do not have to search the world for answers about who I am. I know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father. I know my purpose and as a woman I have been blessed with divine attributes from God that help me be a better mother to my children. I know that because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ that we may live again and become clean through Repentance. I know that,  “this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors” (Alma 34:32). It is also the time for us to help others come unto Christ as well because He is the true Gift.

“How silently, how silently,
The wondrous Gift is giv’n!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still,
The dear Christ enters in.”

(O Little Town of Bethlehem)

Merry Christmas

Love,

Brit Jessop
