How to Make Green Smoothies in Bulk

Mmm look at that lovely jalapeno jam. Just kidding! Although it really does look like I canned some pureed peas or beans… It’s a green smoothie! 8 of them to be precise. It takes less than 30 minutes to blend them all up and the best part… You only have to clean your blender ONCE instead of everyday! Meal prepping at its finest. If you don’t mind cleaning the blender everyday you can check out my basic green smoothie prep bag recipe at https://justbrit.com/2015/04/13/green-smoothie/ .

After the mason jar smoothie thaws, it really does maintain it’s smoothie texture (I was afraid the texture would be lost in the thawing process). If you like a little icy-ness to it, pull a jar from the freezer and place it in the fridge before you go to bed. I prefer a little “less” icy-ness so I pull it out a day before around 1:00pm and let it thaw in the fridge (18 hours).

I’m a fan of anything if it means less dishes!

Keep reading below the recipe for my week 4 health accountability. Thanks for reading friends!

(This recipe of mine below fills one 64 oz size blender and makes 4 servings. So I made another batch to make 8 servings).

3 Tbs peanut butter (no sugar added) or almond butter

3 cups Unsweetened Almond Coconut Milk

3 tsp vanilla extract

Optional: (keep in mind that adding these ingredients below may call for some more liquid)

Protein powder

Raw oatmeal

Directions:

Blend all ingredients, pour into pint size jars (16 oz.), screw on lids and place into freezer. Allow adequate thawing time before consumption.

Week 4 Accountability update:

Thought I’d attach my accountability on this post. Guys, I’ve had a head cold for a whole stinkin week! Seriously, I’m starting to believe that there is a dedicated workout/health devil who’s only goal in life is to throw me off my healthy living track. So last week was minimal to no activity… But I obviously spent that time creating some healthy recipes (like above) that I’m pretty excited about. So I guess I can count that as something right? It’s all about remaining in the game even though you may be sitting on the sidelines. I’m still a bit congested but went out for a jog last night to start this week strong. Here’s to green smoothies and no sickness!
